Homework Resources
The library offers a wide variety reference resources to patrons at all academic levels ranging from elementary school students through those studying for post-graduate degrees. In addition to the print resources available at the library, itself, you can also access the electronic resources listed below from home, work, or anywhere else in the world where you can connect to the Internet . iConn, for example, provides access to hundreds of articles from both scholarly and popular magazines. It also connects you to a catalog of over 3.5 million items available from Connecticut's public libraries that you can have sent to us for pick up here in Old Lyme through interlibrary loan.

This new service connects you with a live professional Reference Librarian 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 hours a day. He or she will help you find information available through the electronic resources subscribed to by the Old Lyme Public Library (including iConn) and will also help you find other information freely available through the Internet. History Reference Center
(High School students and up) For history buffs, class projects and assignments, this is the first place to look! Provides articles from magazines, journals, reference and non-fiction books; biographies, documents and speeches; maps and photographs. Also includes film and video clips of social, political and cultural historical events of the 20th Century from 1893 to 1985.

Science Reference Center
(High School Students and up) Start here for science projects and research needs!
Provides articles from scientific reference books, magazines, journals, biographies and images. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, physics, technology and wildlife

Student Research Center
(Middle school students and up) A student-friendly version of the History and Science Reference Centers that provides the same high quality content. Choose content sources (Magazines, Newspapers, Biographies, Country Reports, Film & Vide), browse by topic headings, use an ontline dictionary and encyclopedia, explore top searches of the day, and even limit searches according to reading levels.

The Library of Congress
Click on the picture above to reach the home page of the Library of Congress. There you can access outstanding electronic resources including "American Memory," which contains images and documents that pertain to American history, "Thomas," which has information about the federal government including bills currently pending before Congress, and "Global Gateway," a collection of multi-cultural resources.
