Every Hero Has a Story!  Summer Reading 2015 (Grades K-5)

If yoYouth_facebook_2u’re ready for a summer full of great books, prizes and hands-on fun, look no further than the Old Lyme-Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library!  All you have to do is stop by the Library and sign up.  Once registered, children in grades K-5 will receive a Frequent Reader Card. On the card, participants will receive a stamp for every book read. They will then be asked to complete a short book review/rating and a brief summary relating to one of the ten books they have chosen (download the form below or stop by the Library to pick up a copy).  Need a little motivation along the way?  We’ve got you covered!  For the first time ever, we’re rolling out incremental prizes for registration, plus the 1st and 5th books read:

Registration Prize: a lightning bolt temporary tattoo

1st Book Prize: a superhero tote bag (to carry all your library books home in, of course!)

5th Book Prize: a superhero swirly straw

10th Book Prize: a gift card to either The Old Lyme Ice Cream Shoppe or The Chocolate Shell

Submitted Frequent Reader Cards will then be used as a raffle ticket for our end-of-the-summer grand prize!  Kids in grades K-2: your prize is a $75.00 gift card to Toys “R” Us.  Kids in grades 3-5: your prize is a $75.00 Visa gift card that you can spend anywhere (yes, anySlogan Textwhere!) you’d like.

K-5 Book Review (Every Hero Has a Story)

Can’t make it to the Library but still want to be a part of the fun? Simply email Children’s Librarian Michelle DeSarbo (mdesarbo@207.210.128.51) with your child’s first and last name, the grade and school they will be entering in the fall, and a valid email address. You can pick up your program materials at the Library.

There is an email component to this program designed for those who wish to track their reading online. This is perfect for those who are not in town over the summer or for readers who want a printable list of the books they have read. “Evanced” is a user-friendly online summer reading tracker that you can use to register your child for the program. You can log your child’s reading and you will be alerted when you have earned a prize.
