Welcome to Youth Services. Visit us to browse the growing collection of books, do research, play with the toys, use the computers, or participate in one of our many programs offered to infants through middle school age children.

Our collection includes board books, picture books, Newberry and Caldecott award winning books, parenting books, magazines, videos, books-on-tapes, and CD-ROMs.

Programs include story times designed for each age level, a Summer Reading Program, and special workshops, speakers and entertainers scheduled throughout the year. Dates and times for special programs and story times are listed below.

Toddler Time
Mondays @ 10:30am
March 15 - May 24

This storytime features stories, fingerplays, music, and a simple craft. Ages 2-3 with an adult. Space is limited. Registration is encouraged.

This storytime features themed stories, music, and crafts. Ages 3 and up. Registration is encouraged.

Baby Time

Join us for 30 minutes of board book sharing, fingerplays and songs, with a time for play and socializing. Birth-2 year with a parent/caregiver. Registration is strongly encouraged!

Fun for the whole family!!

 

You’ve never seen bubbles like this before...
As big as a rainbow colored bathtub wobbling 10-feet off the ground with a liquid-skin thinner than the wavelength of light.

Bubbles will bounce, divide and sometimes even swallow you whole if you give them the chance. Even ordinary bubbles are extraordinary. Yes we can learn a lot from a bubble. That's exactly what this 55ish minute program is all about.

Come to the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library for Game Day. Featured games this week are Scattergories and Pictionary. Come play games, listen to music and hang out with your friends at the library. Refreshments provided. Program runs from 2:30-5:00pm. Program will be run by Susie Redman, OLPGN library volunteer.

Decorate Your Own Knapsack

Come to the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library to decorate your own napsack backpack. Choose from an assortment of colors, use fabric paint and iron on decals to customize your own backpack. Materials provided. Refreshments provided. Program runs from 2:30-5:00pm. Program will be run by Susie Redman, OLPGN volunteer.

Make Your Own Lighted Paper Lantern (Encore Presentation)
Thursday, March 18, 2010 2:45 - 5:00pm OLPGN Community Room
Children Grades 5-8

Come to the Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library to create your own lighted paper lantern. Using a light kit, low watt light bulb, wallpaper and your own creativity, create a lantern to hang which will sure to add personality and flair to your room (parental permission to hang suggested). Materials provided. Refreshments provided.
